GENEVA, IL — The Kane County Division of Transportation is on the cusp of starting a months-long intersection improvement project in Geneva.
Beginning May 13, crews will begin construction at the intersection of Western Avenue and Fabyan Parkway. Work will include earth excavation, roadway construction, hot mix asphalt pavement, storm sewer facilities, drainage structures and landscape restoration, according to a news release.
The county also plans to reconstruct the existing multi-use path that runs along the south side of Fabyan Parkway from Western Avenue to Route 31.

Construction will start on the south side of the intersection before moving to the north side. Although both roads will remain open, officials said lane closures and shifts in traffic patterns will be required.
During segments of the project, the section of Fabyan Parkway in the construction zone will be down to one lane in each direction, and Western Avenue will be decreased to 10 feet in each direction. The left turn lane on Western will also be temporarily removed, city officials noted.

The project is expected to be completed by late October or early November if weather permits, officials said.
