West Model UN team excels at Cal-Berkeley competition

Glenbard West High School’s Model United Nations team was awarded Best Club Delegation, the highest honor for a team, while competing in the Cal-Berkeley Model United Nations simulation.  A total of 18 students represented Glenbard West by debating current international issues with other high school students from across the country. 

In addition, many individuals were recognized for their work in committee.  Outstanding Delegate honors went to Dan McCormack and Fiona Bare, who represented Germany on the Commission on the Status of Women; Claire Lupo and Natalie Salo, who represented Germany on the United Nations Development Program; and Lily Jacobi, who represented Germany on the United Nations Environmental Programme.  Special delegate commendation also was given to Ellen Wendte and Jordan Geiersbach, who represented Germany on the World Food Programme; as well as Charlotte Karp and Emma Murphy, who represented Germany on the World Health Organization.  

Many other delegates won research awards for their written preparatory work connected to this conference.  Kevin Minkus, Chris Glotzbach, Lydia Smith, Maria Barnett, Claire Fey, Joseph Lanzillo, Dan McCormack, Fiona Bare, Claire Lupo, Natalie Salo, Charlotte Karp and Emma Murphy were given this distinction.
