Where To Recycle Old Holiday Lights In Glen Ellyn

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Decorating for the holidays often brings the all-too-familiar disappointment of plugging in strings of lights, only to discover they no longer work. Luckily, there are several places throughout Glen Ellyn to recycle holiday lights in 2025 and early 2026.

If you're planning to recycle your defunct lights, keep in mind that only the following types of lights and items will be accepted:

• C7 lights
• C9 lights
• Extension cords
• LED lights
• Mini (Italian) lights
• Rope lights

The following locations will accept the above items for recycling:

• Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Rd.
• Frank Johnson Center, 490 Kenilworth Ave.
• Main Street Recreation Center, 501 Hill Ave.
• Spring Avenue Recreation Center, 185 Spring Ave.

Residents can recycle holiday lights through Jan. 25, when the program ends for the 2025-26 season.
