Charged With Trying To Kill His Father: Trial Starts For Glen Ellyn Man

The father had two brain hemorrhages, and several other injuries.

The trial of Charles Mitchell started this week. The 27-year-old is representing himself against the charges of attempted first-degree murder and domestic battery, according to the Daily Herald.

In June, Mitchell was charged with attacking his brother and father at a hotel on the 600 block of Roosevelt Road. He allegedly hit his brother in the face and gouged his eyes before kicking his father in the head and body.

In court, Mitchell said the fight with his brother had stemmed from a dispute over a shared cell phone. Mitchell claimed his father initiated the altercation and he acted in self defense.
