GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn residents are invited to see concepts that are being presented as possible designs for a planned upgrade to the Metra station. The plan commission meeting will be held April 25 at 7 p.m.

Plans for the new Metra station have been in the works since before the pandemic. In 2019, the village was awarded a $14.4 million federal grant to help support the concept.

  • Improved accessibility
  • Additional bicycle parking

  • Easier access to PACE pickups and dropoffs

The train station upgrades coincide with the next phase of Glen Ellyn's ongoing streetscape and utility work. The streetscape work will include maintenance to sidewalks and roadways, upgrades to curbs and gutters and improvements to lighting and other utilities.

It's expected the train station upgrade project will begin construction in early 2026.
