Drone Demos, Touch-A-Truck, More: National Night Out In Glen Ellyn
Glen Ellyn police are inviting community members to join them Aug. 6 for the nationwide National Night Out event.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Watch a drone demonstration, learn how to handle evidence, visit with police officers, enjoy free iced treats and more at National Night Out in Glen Ellyn. The Aug. 6 event, which will be held at Newton Park, is part of a nationwide initiative to build community between residents and local law enforcement.
Kids will get a chance to see police vehicles and make their own arts and crafts. A magician and other entertainers will perform throughout the two-hour event. Food and drinks will be available for attendees to purchase.
"National Night out is a fantastic outreach opportunity. We are always looking for these types of occasions to interact with residents and guests in non-enforcement situations," Glen Ellyn Police Chief Philip Norton told Patch.

"Last year, National Night Out exceeded our expectations as far as public participation is concerned, and we look forward to growing this event every year. We are excited for the community to join us on Tuesday."
National Night Out got its start in 1984 as an initiative to build relationships between community members and local police departments. Now, events are held throughout the U.S. during the first Tuesday in August each year.
