Glen Ellyn Backyard Barbecue Will Return Live And In-Person
After last year's event went virtual, the 13th annual competition will be held on Sept. 11 in downtown Glen Ellyn.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — After last year's Glen Ellyn Backyard Barbecue was virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual cook-off will return live and in-person next month.
The event, now in its 13th year, is set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 12:30 to 9:30 p.m. in downtown Glen Ellyn (at 505 Crescent Blvd.), the event organizers said on their website.
Contestants can download the application form and read the competition's official rules here. The entry cost is $70 for one category, then another $20 for each additional category. There are four categories in total: Ribs, best dish, chicken and barbecue sauce.

All competition proceeds will benefit Bridge Communities, which provides free transitional housing and mentorship to families in DuPage county experiencing homelessness.
