Glen Ellyn Librarian Joining Prestigious Program

Outreach librarian Ridgeway Burns has been selected for the ILEAD USA program to help develop ways to better serve library patrons.

Glen Ellyn Public Library outreach librarian Ridgeway Burns has been selected to take part in the year-long ILEAD USA has been selected to take part in the ILEAD USA (Innovate Librarians Explore, Apply and Discover) program to develop ways to better serve library users through implementation of technology and other models. 

“I am so happy to be selected and spend time with other interested librarians,” Burns said in a press release, which called the year-long program “prestigious.” 

“The librarians on my team and I hope to develop easily replicated programs that will bring the DIY and makerspace culture to other libraries.”

In the program, Burns will participate in three four-day sessions to identify a project that can help to address a library patron need, then develop, implement, manage and evaluate the project.

According to the release, the ILEAD USA program is being implemented in Illinois through a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
