
Will they sink or float? The Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta will test the abilities of The Legends, The Yachtsmen and The Schooners as boat builders of varying experience take to the water June 29.
This is the 20th anniversary for the regatta, which draws thousands to Lake Ellyn to watch and cheer for the racers.
The cardboard regatta kicks off at noon, but food including burgers, hot dogs and sweet corn will be sold starting at 11 a.m.

The race will be held from noon until about 3 p.m.
In addition to the regatta, a new challenge was added this year. With the new trend in stand up paddle boarding, the regatta will include a cardboard longboard race. The racer left standing with the fastest time will receive a first-place trophy, according to the Glen Ellyn Park District.

The longboard races will be held before the boat race finals.
