Man Arrested After Pointing Gun At Individual

A gun was pointed at a truck driver in the area of Duane Street and Melrose Avenue early Friday morning.

On Friday, October 30 at 8:15 a.m., Glen Ellyn police officers were called to the area of Duane St. and Melrose Ave. for a man who pointed a gun at a truck driver. Officers learned the suspect may have retreated into a nearby multi-unit residential building. Residents from the building and the general area were evacuated and St. Petronille School, located in close proximity, was placed into lockdown. At approximately 11:15 a.m., the suspect, Christopher M. Davis, was taken into custody at his residence without incident. The firearm Davis allegedly pointed at the victim was recovered.

He was charged with one felony count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and one misdemeanor count of Aggravated Assault.

Officers from the Wheaton Police Department and the College of DuPage Police Department assisted with the investigation.

Members of the public are reminded that a criminal complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial during which it is the State’s burden to prove his/her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
