Maplewood Brewery & Distillery To Bring Brewpub To Two Hound Red Space

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Maplewood Brewery & Distillery plans to open its second location at 486 Pennsylvania Ave. in Glen Ellyn once occupied by Two Hound Red. The Logan Square-based brewery will feature an expanded kitchen, on-site brewing and small-batch beers, with plans to open by spring of next year.

The space's existing 15-barrel brewhouse will be used to augment Maplewood's current brewing operations. During a village board workshop in June, Maplewood Brewery & Distillery's co-founder and chief financial officer Paul Megalis said kegs will not be stored onsite in Glen Ellyn, except what will be used in the restaurant.

The owners plan to revamp the 7,850 square foot restaurant space to match the vibe of the Maplewood Brewery Lounge in Chicago. At the June village board workshop, Megalis said they aim to make the Glen Ellyn space "more of a family-friendly environment."

Megalis added that the restaurant will serve the same Polish-inspired fare as the Chicago location. Other food options may include pizza dishes and smoked meats. The drink menu will feature the brewery's signature drinks, THC seltzers, craft cocktails and more.

Bottled and canned beers and seltzers will also be available to purchase for off-site consumption.

According to the website loopnet, the 486 Pennsylvania Ave. property was listed for sale on Nov. 25, 2024.

Maplewood Brewery & Distillery recently garnered double gold and runner-up for best in show awards at the the San Francisco International World Spirits Awards for its Fat Pug American Single Malt Whiskey and Wheated Bourbon. The latter was voted among the top wheated bourbons in the world at the event.

Their flagship brewpub in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood opened in 2014.
