New Philharmonic's 9th Young People’s Competition April 28 at the MAC

Application deadline: 5 p.m., Friday, April 26

Maestro Kirk Muspratt and New Philharmonic are pleased to announce the 9th New Philharmonic Young People’s Competition taking place 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 28 in Room 140 at the McAninch Arts Center, 425 Fawell Blvd. The competition is open to young instrumentalists and vocalists who reside in College of DuPage Community College District 502 or who study with a teacher in District 502. Students must have completed no grade higher than the 11th grade by June 30, 2024.

Whether they sing or play an instrument, auditioners may perform solos, duets, trios, or quartets for the audition. Auditioners must memorize their music and provide their own accompanist. There is a two-minute maximum for audition and performance. Winners of the competition will have the opportunity to perform at a New Philharmonic orchestra concert between September 2024 and August 2025. Concert assignment will be at the discretion of the music director. Winners must provide their own accompanist who has been pre-approved by New Philharmonic orchestra management for the concert.

Students seeking to schedule an audition should call the McAninch Arts Center Administration Office Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 630.942.3008. The deadline to schedule an audition reservation is 5 p.m. Friday, April 26. Auditioners must bring the audition form to their audition where it will be submitted along with the $20 audition fee payable by check to New Philharmonic.
