Part Of Main Street To Close As Construction Continues In Glen Ellyn
Main Street will be closed from Duane to Crescent as of Sept. 6 to allow for improvements tied to Glen Ellyn's streetscape project.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Main Street will be closed from Duane Street and Crescent Boulevard starting Sept 6 as crews perform work that is part of the ongoing Glen Ellyn Streetscape project. During this time, Union Pacific Railroad will also perform repairs near the Main Street crossing.
Recent streetscape work along Main Street has included removing pavement and curbs along Duane Street, installing bricks and stone, planting trees and performing maintenance related to irrigation and electricity.
During the closure that takes effect Sept. 6, no street parking will be permitted along Duane Street. Street parking will be permitted on Main Street after crews finish working.

Village officials anticipate the closure of Main Street between Duane and Crescent will last three weeks.
Glen Ellyn kicked off its streetscape project in March of 2022. The multiphase project includes street repairs, the addition of new sidewalks, water and sanitation updates, additional accessibility features and other improvements.

The project includes plans to double the number of trees downtown during the streetscape redevelopment.
