Police To Target Drunk Drivers During St. Patrick's Day In Glen Ellyn
St. Patrick's Day lands on a Monday this year, and Glen Ellyn police will be out in full force on the holiday and during the weekend.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — As the green beer flows and St. Patrick's Day parties and events bring out revelers, the Glen Ellyn Police Department plans to be in full force to target drunk and impaired drivers.
Glen Ellyn police recommend taking the following measures to keep the roads safe during St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
- Designate a sober driver
- Use a rideshare service or call a cab
- Take keys from those who may try to drive drunk or impaired
Officers will also be increasing patrols for seatbelt violations, distracted driving, speeding and other violations. The St. Patrick's Day traffic safety campaign is part of a statewide initiative funded in part by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
