Residents May See Increase In Water, Sewer Rates In Glen Ellyn

If the measure is approved, Glen Ellyn residents will see an increase of roughly four percent in their sewer and water rates for 2026.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — On Monday, the Glen Ellyn Village Board will review a potential increase in water and sewer rates for residents for 2026. If approved, it's estimated residents will seen an overall uptick of about 4 percent in their fees.

New rates took effect in Jan. 2025, when Glen Ellyn residents saw a water and sewer rate increase of about two percent.

Currently, residents within the village pay a water rate of $10.31 per 1,000 gallons. The proposal would increase this rate to $10.50 per 1,000 gallons. Outside of the village, the fee is currently $15.47 per 1,000 gallons of water. This would increase to $15.75 per 1,000 gallons.

Charges based on meter size would also increase, with the new proposed rates listed below for residents within the village:

  • 5/8-inch: $2.73
  • 3/4-inch: $4.09
  • 1-inch: $6.82
  • 1 1/2-inch: $13.64
  • 2-inch: $21.83
  • 3 inches: $40.93
  • 4 inches: $68.22
  • 6 inches: $136.43

Sewer rates per 1,000 gallons would increase from $7.44 to $7.57 within the village and from $7.82 to $7.96 outside the village.

Mixed fees based on water meter size would be as follows for 2026 for residents in the village.

  • 5/8-inch: $2.01
  • 3/4-inch: $3.01
  • 1-inch: $5.02
  • 1 1/2-inch: $10.03
  • 2-inch: $16.05
  • 3 inches: $30.10
  • 4 inches: $50.17
  • 6 inches: $100.34

The new rates would take effect Jan. 1, 2026.
