Search For District 89 Superintendent To Begin Jan. 3
District 89 will begin its efforts to find a new superintendent to take up the mantle from Dr. Emily Tammaru, who stepping down.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — On Jan. 3, board members for Community Consolidated School District 89 will meet to begin their search for a new district superintendent.
At the meeting, the board is set to convene with a hiring firm and outline the upcoming steps in its search for someone to replace Dr. Emily Tammaru, who accepted a position as superintendent of Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 that begins July 1, 2023.
Residents are invited to attend the Jan. 3 meeting, which will be held at 22W600 Butterfield Rd., but can also click the link to watch the District 89 board meeting remotely.

Tammaru was hired as superintendent of District 89 in July 2016.
“Dr. Tammaru has been a wonderful asset to this district from the moment she joined,” District 89 Board President Haydee Núñez said in a statement.

Núñez added, “Every single CCSD 89 student has benefited from her work. Dr. Tammaru guided the district through some tremendous challenges without ever losing sight of the goals of safety, academic excellence, and inclusion. Her work has put District 89 on a path for continued long-term success. The members of the Board of Education thank her for her strong, student-first leadership."
