Special Announcement Planned At Veterans Day Ceremony In Glen Ellyn

Set for Nov. 11, the Veterans Day Ceremony will honor those who served and feature a special announcement about plans for 2024.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Nov. 11 to honor those who have served and to share a special announcement about 2024's veteran events in Glen Ellyn. The Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St.

Hosted by the Daughters of the American Revolution and Glen Ellyn American Legion Post 3, the event starts at 10:30 a.m. and is expected to last about 90 minutes.

Three speakers will address the crowd, including Glen Ellyn American Legion, Post 3 Commander Mike Formento, who will announce a special event for 2024 in Glen Ellyn. Additionally, Dr. Megan Rosecrans will talk about wellness services for veterans and Lynda Nystrom will speak on behalf of Daughters of the American Revoluation.

Music will be performed by the Glenbard South High School Band, along with David Johnson, who will play the bagpipes. Echo Taps will be played to close the ceremony.

Formento told Patch Glen Ellyn American Legion Post 3 has hosted Veterans Day ceremonies in the village since 1918.

He said, "Veterans Day is the official day to honor and recognize all veterans as well as all those currently serving in the United States military both at home and abroad. Let us remember every day their service and sacrifices and grasp this opportunity to salute and respect all veterans for their unselfish devotion to our country to protect and preserve the 'Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.'"
