Weather Watch: Storms, Hail and Strong Winds Possible Tuesday Night

Storms are expected to move in Tuesday. High winds and hail are possible.

Enjoy the sun while it’s out. It seems it will soon be replaced with rain storms.

The National Weather Service is forecasting scattered thunderstorms for the Glen Ellyn area later this afternoon. The storms will move in late Tuesday afternoon and are expected to continue Wednesday.

Damaging winds are also possible with “the main threat likely being large hail,” according to the National Weather Service.

The scattered thunderstorms could produce hail the size of golfballs, cloud-to-ground lightning and winds gusting up to 60 mph are possible, according to the forecast.

The forecast is for a high of 87 degrees Tuesday; 70 percent chance of storms Wednesday and a high of 83; Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high of 78; and Friday mostly sunny with a high of 74.
