GLEN ELLYN, IL — Customers, diners and other visitors can still take advantage of free parking at select spots in downtown Glen Ellyn while they do their holiday shopping. In the village's central business district, red bags now cover three-hour parking meters to signify that there is no cost to park at these spots. The free parking will be available at these marked meters until New Year's Day. Glen Ellyn recently announced some <a href="https://patch.com/illinois/glenellyn/more-parking-become-available-downtown-glen-ellyn" target="_blank">changes to its parking system</a> that will take effect at the start of 2023. More parking spots will become available in the new year and permits will be required to park overnight in select lots and garages.
