ROSELLE, IL — Bond was denied for a 22-year-old man after police say he fired 18 shots into the Bulldog Ale House restaurant, 394 Irving Park Road in Roselle, and shot a woman in the head.

Police said the woman was shot after Jamie Quijano, of Roselle, argued with a Bulldog Ale House employee. After the argument, officials said Quijano began walking toward the exit before turning around and firing into the restaurant.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at the restaurant around 12:29 a.m. Saturday and found a woman in her 20s with a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken to an area hospital.

Police said Quijano fled the restaurant on foot, but was arrested a short time later at his home in the 200 block of Walter Drive. A pistol and magazine were found on the couch at his home, along with two live 9 mm rounds, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. One of the rounds was found in Quijano's pants pocket, and the other was found in a satchel he had been carrying.

On Sunday, Judge Susan Alvarado denied bond for Quijano.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin said the denial "sends the message that senseless, unprovoked acts of violence as alleged in this case will most certainly not be tolerated in DuPage County."

Berlin added, "I wish the victim in this case well, and it is my sincerest hope that she has a speedy and full recovery." He commended the Roselle Police Department for quickly apprehending Quijano, who is due back in court Aug. 15.

He is charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

If found guilty, Quijano faces a penalty of between thirty-one years to life in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
