GLEN ELLYN, IL — The Glen Ellyn plan commission will host a public hearing on a zoning ordinance request that would allow restaurants to be built in the C4 district along the Roosevelt Road Corridor.

As a C4 district, the 70.74-acre area is zoned for office, civic and government buildings. The area includes sites on at Main Street and Taft Avenue, Taft and Park Boulevard, Route 53 and Roosevelt Road.

According to village documents, "these sites represent dated or poorly laid out parcels that can be consolidated with adjacent properties to facilitate more intense redevelopment that is in line with the community's vision of Roosevelt Road as a vibrant commercial corridor."

Currently, the district comprises more than 20 buildings, most of which are used for offices, banks and a post office. Danby's Restaurant is also located in the site and is deemed in need of site improvements, according to village documents.

If approved, the zoning ordinance amendment would permit restaurants and require a special use permit for drive-thru eateries.
