2 Dogs Die In House Fire: Glenview Police Blotter
The residents were not home at the time of the fire last weekend, according to police.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Richard Oritz Hernandez, 32, of the 500 block of North Avenue, Waukegan, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 5:08 a.m. July 4, in the 4100 block of Willow Road following the investigation of a traffic crash. He was released and assigned a court date of July 23.

INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO STATE SUPPORTED PROPERTY
A resident reported at 12:55 p.m. July 4, someone had lit a garbage can in the 2900 block of Harrison Street with fireworks.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A resident in the 1300 block of Heatherfield Lane called police at 7:36 p.m. July 4, to report being followed home by someone in a gray, newer model Ford SUV with dark window tints. The resident did not recognize the vehicle and could not identify the driver.
TRESPASS WARNING
Employees of a business in the 2100 block of Willow Road reported at 10:06 a.m. July 1, another employee was terminated after they got highly agitated and began swearing during a meeting about them calling in sick. The terminated employee was escorted off the property by staff and left the area.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident called police at 10:11 a.m. July 1, to report someone had opened an American Express account using their information. They had the account closed and there is no financial loss.
HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE
A Dewes Street resident reported at 6:37 p.m. July 1, they were texting with an unknown person who they had met on a dating website. The resident said they received a picture of a man's buttocks, but they deleted it right away. The resident said they were then contacted by a second person, claiming to be the person's father. The second person told the resident that the person is 15 years old and now suicidal, so they need to pay them $7,000. Police put extra watch on the residence. Officers could not find any info on the two.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS
A resident in the 1900 block of Ivy Way called police at 12:12 p.m. July 2, to report someone had entered the home they are renting, while they were not there, and removed an item. The resident recently moved in and while out of the home, their children called and said a woman came in and asked to retrieve something the previous renters left behind. Through an investigation, officers learned a Deerfield resident, a friend of the previous renters, was asked to retrieve an envelope containing credit cards that had been left behind. They explained they thought the contractors on scene gave permission to enter and did not realize they did not have proper approval. The person was issued a trespass warning.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A Skokie resident reported at 12:35 p.m. July 2, someone had broken the window of their vehicle while it was parked at a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road. They were inside the business between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and when they were exiting, they noticed the front passenger window was broken. Nothing was taken and they could not determine what was used to break it.
THEFT
A Skokie resident reported at 5:51 p.m. July 3, communicating with an unknown person about a property for rent in the 500 block of Lotus Lane. The lister had told them to go to the address and they would provide a code to look at the house, also requesting a picture of their driver's license. They did not send it because of the discrepancies in two addresses they provided. Previous calls show multiple thefts from a rent scam involving the residence.
FIRE ASSIST
Police officers and firefighters responded at 12:34 p.m. July 5, for a reported house fire in the 1200 block of Roosevelt Road. The residents were not home at the time of the fire, however, their two dogs perished in the fire. The Fire Department extinguished the fire and turned the scene over to fire investigators. Nothing appeared suspicious about the fire.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A resident reported at 8:52 p.m. July 7, walking their dog on 6th Street when someone started yelling and calling their names. They told them not to walk past their house again. Officers went to the resident and the person refused to open the door, saying they do not trust the police. They admitted to yelling, but said it was because the other person lets their dog defecate on their lawn. The resident was told to stay away from the dog walker.
