Northbrook, IL — December 9, 2025 — The North Suburban YMCA (NSYMCA) was presented with a shopping cart full of wrapped holiday gifts on December 9 thanks to its continued partnership with Target of Glenview. This marks the third year Target has selected the NSYMCA as its nonprofit partner for The Great Giftogether, Target’s annual holiday giveback initiative.

The Great Giftogether began in 2022 and now takes place at nearly 2,000 Target stores nationwide. In November, Kiki Gulsvig, Executive Leader of Human Resources, and Cassie Gomez, Human Resources Manager at Target of Glenview, reached out to the NSYMCA to adopt families enrolled in the Y’s Community Strong Financial Assistance Program and surprise them with holiday gifts.

All gifts were thoughtfully personalized based on each recipient’s size, interests, and hobbies. This year, one of the selected families included individuals experiencing homelessness. Thanks to the generosity of the Glenview Target team, the family received essential items such as warm boots, gloves, socks, sleeping bags, and blankets—providing comfort and warmth during the winter months.

“In our third year of giving back to the Y, we continue to see how much of a difference this program makes in people’s lives,” said Kiki Gulsvig, Executive Leader of Human Resources at Target of Glenview. “We have always valued our partnership with the Y, and when given the opportunity to support families in need, we knew we could help make the holidays a little easier for those who are struggling day to day in our community.”

The NSYMCA’s Community Strong Financial Assistance Program supports people of all ages—especially underserved youth and seniors—by ensuring access to life-changing Y programs. Currently, one in five participants, or 20%, receives some form of financial assistance. Because no one is turned away due to inability to pay, the Y relies on more than $500,000 in charitable support annually to provide programs such as summer camp, sports, dance, childcare, special needs classes, lifesaving swim lessons, and senior wellness programs.

“We have been fortunate to partner with Target of Glenview for more than eight years, and every year we are incredibly grateful that they continue to choose our families to support,” said Kim Nyren, Director of Community Investment at the NSYMCA. “Without the support of local businesses like Target, we would not be able to serve our community and help families when they need it most—especially during the holiday season.”

About Target’s The Great Giftogether

The Great Giftogether started as the idea of one Target team member for how his team could make an impact and now includes team members from nearly 2,000 Target stores and supply chain facilities across the country. Each Target team partners with a local nonprofit of their choice to identify families in need. Then, with those families’ shopping lists in hand, our teams carefully select and wrap each gift, including holiday presents and everyday essentials to help them celebrate the season. Finally, they team up with their nonprofit partner to deliver them right in time for the holidays, creating a little extra holiday magic for some very special families.
