3rd Annual SportSwap Gives Glenview Residents Chance To 'Declutter Garages And Closets'

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Glenview Park Foundation and Greener Glenview.

GLENVIEW, IL — Once again, local residents will have a chance to clean out the garage, and help local athletes, with the 3rd annual Glenview SportSwap. The Glenview Park District and Greener Glenview are partnering to host the community project that supports sustainability by keeping used sport equipment out of the landfill.

Used sports equipment will be available at affordable prices, with proceeds benefiting the Glenview Park Foundation and Greener Glenview. Shoppers are encouraged to bring a bag to take home purchases.

The event is scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 24, at Park Center West Gym. Equipment can be dropped off from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 22, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 23, according to the Glenview Park District.

"We've held two Swaps and they were fun and very successful," said Ann Yoshida, Greener Glenview member and event organizer. "We've had great feedback from the community and can't wait to hold the event again this year. By participating in the Swap, the community is helping people save money and re-use perfectly good sports equipment, keeping it out of the landfills. Having a chance to declutter garages and closets is an added bonus."
