5 Charged With Defrauding Glenview Hotel Operator: Police Blotter

The five also faced additional charges in connection with an incident on Milwaukee Avenue after police said they failed to pay for lodging.

GLENVIEW, IL — Five people were recently arrested by Glenview police and were recently arrested and charged with defrauding an innkeeper following an incident in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue, police said.

Illinois law defines defrauding an innkeeper as a misdemeanor and involves anyone who person, with intent to defraud, obtains lodging, food, money, property, or other accommodation at a hotel, inn, boarding house, or lodging house without paying, police said.

None of those charged are from Glenview, police said, but were charged with defrauding an innkeeper as well as other criminal charges, police said. The five were arrested at 8:46 a.m. on Sept. 29 following the incident.

Those arrested included Diamonique Fuller, 19, Country Club Hills, Darnell Topp, 19, Maywood, Londyn White, 21, Berwyn, Romiell Nesbitt, 19, Springfield and Jeremiah Smith, 18, Bellwood.

Fuller and White and Nesbitt were also charged with theft and Nesbitt was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Smith was wanted on a Cook County warrant in addition to being charged with the defrauding of an innkeeper.

Fuller, Topp, and White were released after posting bail while Nesbitt was held over for a bond hearing and Smith was held for transport to the Cook County Jail, police said.

Other arrests made by Glenview police recently include:

Gustavo Rivera Robles, 42, Wheeling, IL., was arrested and charged with Identity Theft following the investigation of an incident reported on Sept. 14 in the 2800 block of Patriot Boulevard. He was held for a bond hearing at the Skokie Courthouse.

Paul Belton, 25, 901 Evanston was arrested at 12:34 a.m. on Sept. 29 and charged with retail theft following the investigation of an incident reported on Sept. 18 at 2241 Willow Road. He was released on bond with a court date set for Oct. 20 at the Skokie Courthouse.

Kevin Anderson, 63, Glenview, was arrested at 12:52 a.m. on Sept. 28 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding (35 mph or higher than the posted speed), and improper lane usage following a traffic stop in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue. He was released on bond with a court date set for Oct. 20 at the Skokie Court.

Arrests do not equate to a guilty finding and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
