GLENVIEW, IL —Padel, one of the fastest growing sports in the world, is a racket game of Mexican origin. A mix between tennis and squash, padel is the main attraction at a new Glenview business.

Alma Padel recently opened at 2300 Ridge Drive. Blending Mediterranean warmth and modern luxury, the club offers not only four competition level courts but also social lounges, event spaces, and a café, according to the Glenview Chamber of Commerce.

"Alma Padel is more than a club," the Chamber tells Patch. "It's a community. This isn’t just about playing padel; it's about creating a space where people can come together, connect, and feel transported."

According to the Alma Padel's website, padel is played in doubles in an enclosed court surrounded by walls of glass and metallic mash. The court is half the size of a tennis court.

"It’s a great sport for players of all ages and skills, as it is both quick and easy to learn, yet hard to master," the website reads. "Padel is not as dominated by strength and serve like in tennis, rather careful placement, match strategy and lots of teamwork."
