GLENVIEW, IL — The Village's Citizens Government Academy turns five this year and applications are currently being accepted for the free, hands-on program. Officials said the program is designed for residents and business owners who want to learn more about what goes into running a community like Glenview.

Held over seven Thursday evenings, participants will meet the people behind the scenes, tour Village facilities, and get an up-close look at the services that keep Glenview safe, connected and moving forward.

Each week covers a different part of local government, from fire and police to development, budgeting, and Public Works. Participants will have a chance to step inside the Glenview Public Safety Dispatch Center and sit along with a 911 telecommunicator, see Fire Department demonstrations, tour the police station and more.
