GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Dariusz Lewandowski, 60, of the 9300 block of Landings Lane, Des Plaines, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, leaving the scene of an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 4:42 p.m. July 19, following a traffic crash investigation at the intersection of West Lake Avenue and Landwehr Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 20.

Saira Rios Valdez, 22, of the 3200 block of Middletown, Ohio, is accused of driving on a suspended license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 12:43 p.m. July 18, following a traffic crash investigation in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 5.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

  • A resident of the 3200 block of Mary Kay Lane reported that during the overnight hours of July 13, someone had entered her unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway. A bag containing a kids' tablet, Toniebox, and clothing was taken, in addition to a car code engine reader.
  • At 2:18 a.m. July 17, police were notified of a Wilmette license plate reader reporting a stolen vehicle traveling eastbound on East Lake Avenue from I-94. The vehicle was seen in front of a residence in the 1500 block of Meadow Lane. As officers approached, someone entered the vehicle from a driveway, and they left the scene at a high rate of speed. A vehicle in the driveway had the driver’s door standing open. The owner said nothing appeared to be missing. Vehicles were also discovered to have been gone through at two other homes.

THEFT

  • A resident of the 1700 block of Wildberry Drive called police at 4:47 p.m. July 15, to report an item from Wayfair was supposed to be delivered by FedEx. They received a notification that the package was delivered on July 5, with a photo, but advised they never received the package. Estimated loss is $2,079.18.
  • A Northbrook resident reported at 2:54 p.m July 16, receiving a call from someone who accused them of being involved in a child pornography incident through a pornography website. The person told them to purchase $2,000 worth of gift cards from a business in the 2100 block of Willow Road, which they complied and gave the gift card numbers over the telephone. The person then called back and told them to go to a different store in Highland Park and purchase more gift cards, but the employees stopped them there and told them it was a scam.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A resident in the 1300 block of Tinker Way reported at 2:53 p.m. July 16, having ongoing issues with a neighbor over a parking spot. There have been dog feces thrown on the porch, in the bushes, and in their parking spot. Officers were unable to make contact with the neighbor.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A Skokie resident reported at 4:33 p.m. July 17, that their license plate was taken from their motorcycle.

RETAIL THEFT

Employees of a business in the 800 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 6:47 a.m. July 18, a male had stolen phone chargers from behind the counter. Officers were unable to locate the person.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A Glenview resident reported at 12:13 p.m. July 18, a suspicious person showing up to multiple businesses in the area and continually staring at them. The latest incident occurred at Trader Joe’s, 1407 Waukegan Road. Information only.

TRESPASS WARNING

A manager of a business in the 1000 block of Waukegan Avenue requested at 4:46 p.m. July 18, for police to issue a trespass warning to a homeless person after being was asked to leave for harassing customers for food and money. The person was advised to leave and warned if they returned, they would be subject to arrest.

ASSIST ANOTHER AGENCY

Police responded to the 100 block of Washington Street at 10:36 a.m. July 20, looking for someone who had emailed a social worker at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, that had homicidal language. Officers contacted his mother at that residence, spoke to him on the phone, and determined he was currently living in Saudi Arabia. The other agency was notified.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

A resident in the 1000 block of Linden Lane, Glenview, reported at 4:27 p.m. July 21, he had hired someone to complete work on his home. The work has not yet been done, and has not paid
him back $80,225.88. Multiple attempts to communicate, including a legal demand letter have
gone unanswered.
