Caller 'Holding Parents Hostage' Threatens Shootout With Police: Glenview Police Blotter
The caller, who had also made threats to harm a resident and their dog, requested $50,000 from police to avoid the shootout.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED LICENSE

Alder Ishaq, 24, of the 8700 block of N. National Avenue, Niles, is accused of driving on a suspended license, possession of a suspended license, expired registration, no insurance, and was arrested at 12:08 a.m. Aug. 2, following a disabled vehicle investigation in the 1000 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 25.

Jesus Gonzalez-Ruiz, 32, of the 180 block of Fletcher Drive, Wheeling, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence, aggravated driving with a suspended license, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving on a revoked license, and was arrested at 7 p.m. Aug. 2, following a traffic crash investigation in the 3000 block of Willow Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 4.
NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE
Israel Ramirez-Castrejon, 53, of the 200 block of E. Palatine Road, Palatine, is accused of having no valid driver's license, following too closely, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 7:51 p.m. July 30, following a traffic crash investigation at Willow and Sanders roads. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 25.
BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE
Daniel Molitor, 34, of the 700 block of Hunter Road, Glenview, is accused of attempted burglary to a vehicle, and was arrested in the 700 block of Glenayre Drive at 12:11 a.m. July 29, following an investigation into an incident in the 600 block of Glenayre Drive. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 20.

INCIDENTS
BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE
- A resident of the 300 block of Parkview Road reported that at 4:27 a.m. July 29, someone had entered their unlocked cars, which they saw on a Ring camera. They identified loose change and sunglasses missing from one of the vehicles. The male is described as having his face covered, wearing dark pants and a light-colored long sleeve shirt.
- A resident in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive reported at 10:51 a.m. Aug. 3, someone had entered their vehicle sometime overnight while parked in the garage. Golf clubs and a credit card were taken. The credit card was used at a gas station in Schaumburg at 3:37 a.m. Total loss is $1,500.
HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE
- Employees of a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 11:45 a.m. July 30, to report receiving 38 phone calls from a number registered to an Orland Park resident, where they said they were upset that someone keeps calling them from the business. The business requested they be told to cease communication. Officers were unable to make contact with the caller.
- A Crestwood Drive resident reported at 7:19 p.m. July 31, receiving a phone call from someone identifying themselves as Google IT, saying they should change their passcode, which they refused. Then the caller asked for their address, which they gave. The caller then made threats to hurt them and their dog, saying they would “swat” them. Shortly after officers left the residence, Northbrook Police received a call from a male, saying his name was the resident’s name and that he had his parents held hostage at their residence on Crestwood. He threatened a shootout with the police if they did not bring $50,000. Officers went to the residence and confirmed all family members were ok. The phone numbers were registered out of California.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident of the 1400 block of Canterbury Lane reported on July 30 that between July 25 and July 27, someone had keyed both of their vehicles parked in the driveway. The estimated damage is $10,000.
THEFT
- A resident of the 1800 block of Wildberry Drive reported at 1 p.m. July 30, that their Roku had stopped working, and they called the number that came up. They spoke with a male who identified himself as a manager for Roku. The manager told resident that their account was hacked and that they would need to move money from their bank account to Bitcoin. The resident sent $22,900 on two occasions to a Bitcoin machine. They later spoke with their bank who froze their account, and they contacted the FTC to report the incident.
- A business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 9:17 a.m. July 31, two people were in the store, with one showing identification for a customer on file. The person used the customer's information on file to purchase two Apple watches, valued at $3,322.13, then entered a vehicle. The driver’s license photo for the registered owner matched the person at the business. The real customer was contacted by the business, and they denied being at the store, also advising they did not give permission for anyone to use their credit card. The customer will sign complaints for identity theft and the business will sign complaints for theft.
- An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 12:14 p.m. Aug. 1, two males were in the store, with the male identifying himself with the information of a customer. One of the two used the customer’s information on file to attempt to purchase an Apple MacBook Pro, valued at $2,499, and a set of Apple AirPods, valued at $549.00. The business contacted the actual customer, who verified they were not in the store attempting to purchase products. The pair were denied the purchase, left the store and entered a vehicle. The customer will sign complaints for identity theft.
BATTERY
- A Brookfield resident called police at 4:14 p.m. July 30, to report being at a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road and being slapped by a family friend after they disagreed about "Squid Game." The family member was gone prior to police arrival.
- Two residents in the 3700 block of Greenleaf Avenue reported at 10:28 p.m. Aug. 2, being battered by an unknown neighbor. The residents said they were sitting/drinking outside their garage when they were struck in the back of the head with a baseball bat by the neighbor. The resident refused medical treatment. The other resident reported being grabbed by the throat during the altercation. Officers spoke with the neighbor, who said that the residents were intoxicated and walked into their garage and were causing problems. The neighbor’s friend pushed them out of the garage and never hit anyone with a bat. The friend was not on scene and the neighbor refused to identify them. The resident would like to sign complaints.
TRESPASS WARNING
An employee of a business in the 4600 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 12:14 p.m. Aug. 1, a homeless person was causing a disturbance inside the business. They left prior to police arrival, but the employee wanted them trespassed. Officers located the person and advised them they were no longer permitted on the property.
RETAIL THEFT
Employees of a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 1:35 p.m. Aug. 1, a person doing contract work inside the store left the store with a cart full of unpaid merchandise. When confronted by employees, the person gave them the middle finger and left in a vehicle. Unknown amount of loss.
DISPUTE
A resident of the 1400 block of Monterey Drive reported at 7:16 p.m. Aug. 2, being in a verbal dispute with another person in the parking lot in the 3600 block of Glenview Road. The resident accused the other person of smoking marijuana in the parking lot and told them they needed to leave. The person exited their car and refused to leave and denied smoking. Officers did not smell marijuana or see signs of smoking from the person. Both parties denied any physical altercation and were released at the scene.
