Coronavirus: Glenview Order Requires Face Coverings

A new executive order for Glenview requires individuals to cover their nose and mouth at essential businesses.

GLENVIEW, IL — An executive order requiring individuals in Glenview to cover their nose and mouth with a face covering while working at or patronizing essential businesses or while using public transportation was signed on Friday. The effort is meant to further reduce the spread of coronavirus and protect the health of essential personnel.

Face coverings will not be necessary for permissible outdoor activities that adhere to social distancing practices, riding in a vehicle, drinking or eating or when alone or with household members in a single residence, according to the village.

On Wednesday, the village of Glenview also declared a state of emergency, which gives village president Jim Patterson temporary powers, including the power to enter into contracts for goods and services and the power to manage the assignment and allocation of personnel and equipment. This will be in effect until the adjournment of the village board's next regularly scheduled meeting, unless extended.
