Driver Killed After Striking Box Truck In Wrong Way Crash Near Glenview: Police

GLENVIEW, IL — A driver was killed early Wednesday following a wrong way car crash on the Tri-State Tollway near Glenview. Illinois State Police tell Patch all northbound lanes of I-294 were shut down for nearly five hours after the crash.

According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of a passenger vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and struck a box truck. The driver of the passenger car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the box truck were taken to an area hospital with injuries.

All northbound lanes were reopened at approximately 6:45 a.m.
