DUI, Retail Theft, Stolen Landscaping Tools: Glenview Police Blotter

The Glenview Police Department made three arrests and handled a number of criminal complaints including several thefts of landscaping tools.

GLENVIEW, IL — The Glenview Police Department made three arrests and handled a number of criminal complaints over the past week involving a variety of offenses.

Local residents are reminded that criminal charges do not equate to a guilty finding and that all defendants are innocent until proven guilty.

Sheri Pawelski, 51, South Elgin, was arrested on June 9 and charged with driving under the influence, following another vehicle too closely, and failing to reduce her speed to avoid an accident. She was arrested following a crash investigation, police said, and was released after posting bond.

Cesar Augusto Sanchez Acosta, 45, Des Plaines, was arrested on June 9 following a traffic accident for driving while having never been issued a driver's license. Acosta was processed and released after posting bond.

Jonathan B. Torres, 24, Skokie, was arrested on June 9 and charged with driving without a valid license, illegal stopping, illegal transportation of alcohol as well as driving an uninsured vehicle. He was released on bond.

CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS

TRESPASSING

Employees at a business in the 2700 block of Johns Court reported an angry customer who refused to leave the business after being asked on June 6. The person was given a citation for trespassing.

FORGERY

A business in the 1900 block of Willow Road reported receiving counterfeit bills on June 6. The U.S. Secret Service was notified.

A business in the 2600 block of Shermer Road reported receiving a counterfeit bill on June 6. The U.S. Secret Service was notified.

RETAIL THEFT

A business in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road reported two women leaving the store on June 6 with medications without paying for them. The suspects left the business in a black vehicle.

A business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported on June 7 that three women entered the business and walked out with a handbag.

A business in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road reported on June 8 that a man stole various skin care products and cosmetic items from the store.

A business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported on June 9 that 10 bottles of alcohol were missing from their business’ shelves.

BURGLARY TO A MOTOR VEHICLE

A Utah resident reported that sometime between June 6 and June 7, the catalytic converter from their vehicle was stolen while parked in a lot in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

THEFT

A Des Plaines resident reported to police that their wallet was stolen after they left it on a table on June 7 at a business in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

A resident in the 4500 block of Concord Lane reported on June 9 that their computer screen was locked with the screen instructing them to call a number. They were instructed to purchase gift cards when they called the number listed.

A resident in the 3800 block of Springdale reported on June 9 that an unlocked bicycle was stolen from the bicycle rack at Flick Pool in the 3600 block of Glenview Road.

A resident reported that in the overnight hours of June 11, someone stole their dual axle trailer containing landscaping equipment while it was in the parking lot in the 2900 block of West Lake Avenue.

IDENTITY THEFT

A resident in the 2200 block of Phillips Drive reported on June 9 that an unknown person used their personal information to open a bank account and transfer funds.

A resident in the 2100 block of Dauntless Drive reported on June 9 that an unknown person withdrew cash from their bank account.

POSSESSION OF CANNABIS

A resident in the 1100 block of Pine Street was cited for possession of marijuana on June 10 during a traffic stop in which the driver was also cited for numerous traffic violations.

BURGLARY FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE

A Gurnee resident reported that landscaping items were stolen from their vehicle in the overnight hours of June 11 in the 2900 block of West Lake Avenue.

A resident reported that sometime between June 10 and June 12, someone unlocked trailers that were parked in the 1900 block of Lehigh Avenue and stole landscaping equipment.

A Wheeling resident reported that sometime between June 10 and June 12, someone entered a locked trailer in the 2000 block of Lehigh Avenue and stole landscaping equipment.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident reported that their work truck was stolen during the overnight hours of June 11 while parked in a lot in the 2900 block of West Lake Avenue. The accident was later involved in a crash in Chicago and reported, police said.
