Glenview District 34 To Host Connect Resource Fair For Local Families

The event will offer District 34 parents information on various local services that will be of interest heading into the new school year.

GLENVIEW, IL — District 34 officials want the upcoming school year to be one that is one of connectivity in which the district wants to maintain close communication with Glenview residents and students.

As the start of the new school year quickly approaches, the district will hold a Community Connect Resource Fair from 3-6 p.m. on Aug. 10. The fair will be held at Glen Cove School, which is located at 3900 Glenview Rd., and will provide local parents with an opportunity to learn about resources that will be made available throughout the school year to local families.

  • D34 Registration/Residency
  • D34 Parent Organizations (PTAs, BPACs, Debra Gelfand Children’s Foundation, Glenview Education Foundation)
  • Health providers will provide valuable information on navigating the healthcare system, and they will offer limited opportunities for physicals (see below)
  • Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton
  • Glenview Fire and Police Departments
  • Northfield Township (food pantry and emergency services)
  • Family Service Center (counseling services)
  • Youth Services of Glenview (counseling/other support services)
  • North Shore Legal Aid Clinic
  • Glenview Public Library
  • Glenview Park District

The Resource Fair will also offer opportunities for families to connect with health services for health exams and sports physicals, according to a news release.

  • Back-to-School Health Exams & Immunizations: Students entering kindergarten and 6th grade, and those who are new to Illinois schools must submit a health form before the start of school. The Ronald McDonald Caremobile (Advocate Health) will be at the Resource Fair to provide physicals and immunizations for D34 students who do not have insurance or receive Medicaid benefits. If local students need physical and immunizations and meet those requirements,they should fill out this form in advance (Spanish).
  • Sports Physicals: Middle school students who wish to participate in sports must have a sports physical form on file with the school health office before practice. If you have not yet made an appointment for students for a sports physical, and local parents do not have a family doctor, NorthShore University Healthsystem can provide assistance. The NorthShore representatives at the fair will schedule an appointment for your child between 1-4:30 pm on August 27 at NorthShore’s location at 211 Waukegan Road in Northfield (across from Sunset Village).
