Glenview Man's Death Ruled A Homicide In Targeted Attack: Police

Fadhil Obeed, 38, was found dead inside his Long Road residence on Monday night and police said they believe the victim was targeted.

GLENVIEW, IL — A 38-year-old Glenview man has been identified as the victim of a homicide who died in what police are calling a targeted attack, police said on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Fadhil Obeed, who lived in the 700 block of Long Road and who was found dead in his home shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled his death a homicide.

Police did not provide further details other than to say that investigators believe Obeed’s death was a targeted attack. Police said that there is no threat to the public.

Police said on Tuesday that they responded to the residence for the report of an injured man. Police said that when they arrived, they found Obeed dead inside the home.

ABC7 reported on Tuesday that the victim had just purchased the home in June after moving to the United States from Iraq. The report indicated he planned to live there with his fiancee and had been working on renovating the home for several months.

Police continue to investigate the homicide and said they will provide more information when it becomes available. The homicide is being investigated by Glenview Police Detectives and by members of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force.
