Glenview PD Participating In 2025 Prescription Drug Take Back Day

GLENVIEW, IL — Twice a year, the Drug Enforcement Administration, along with thousands of law enforcement partners across the United States, hold National Prescription Take Back Day events.

On Saturday, Oct. 25, a number of local police departments will be collecting the unwanted prescription drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., including the Glenview Police Department, 2500 E. Lake Ave.

The last event, held in April of this year, resulted in the collection of 620,321 pounds (310 tons) of unneeded medications at 4,590 collection sites nationwide.

The first National Prescription Drug Take Back Day was held on Sept. 25, 2010, and was organized by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. In the past 15 years, a total of 19,820,761 pounds of prescription drugs have been collected during the event.
