Glenview Runners Finish 2023 Chicago Marathon

CHICAGO — In an edition filled with broken records, the 45th running of the Chicago Marathon on Saturday featured more than 47,000 runners, including a number of local Glenview competitors. Race officials said it was the most runners to ever finish the 26.2-mile race.

Kelvin Kiptum, of Kenya, was the top male and overall finisher, clocking the first sub-2:01 marathon in an officially sanctioned competition with a world record time of 2 hours and 35 seconds. Sifan Hassan, of the Netherlands, set a new course record on the women's side with at time of 2:13:44.

In addition, Marcel Hug, of Switzerland, broke his own record set in last year's wheelchair race with a time of 1:22:37. Catherine Debrunner, also of Switzerland, set a new course record for women in the wheelchair division with a time of 1:38:44.

The top five male and female Glenview runners that completed the marathon were:

1. Kim Laramore, 3 hours, 49 minutes, 33 seconds
2. Kathryn Dwyer, 3:56:50
3. Clare Fallon, 4:05:05
4. Whitney Hinson, 4:05:36
5. Kielo Sauvala, 4:16:08
