Landwehr Road Project Meeting Rescheduled For February In Glenview

Improvements to the road between West Lake Avenue and Hampton Court are being proposed by the Cook County Department of Transportation.

GLENVIEW, IL — A meeting to discuss potential improvements to Landwehr Road, which was canceled earlier this week due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled. The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways public information meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 21, at Henry Winkelman Elementary School, 1919 Landwehr Road.

Recently, officials called the improvements near the school "vital" and said if the plan is approved, work would begin in 2026. A stretch of the half-mile road between West Lake Avenue and Hampton Court is where the improvements are being proposed.

According to officials, the road "provides access to vital institutions, including schools, hospitals, fire stations and recreation centers." Improvements being discussed include the following:

  • Adding new turn lanes at the school entrance
  • new sidewalks
  • resurfacing the roadway
  • refreshing the pavement markings
  • drainage improvements

Officials said improvements will address congestion and traffic safety issues the community is experiencing, as well as enhance pedestrian facilities along the corridor. More information and a project flyer are available online.
