Men Seen Flying Drone Over Group Of Playing Children: Glenview Police Blotter
The drone hovered over the kids and the witness believes the men were taking photos of them.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Sidney J. Mennie, 21, of the 9900 block of N. 850th Avenue, Hennepin, had a warrant out of Cook County for failure to appear on a driving under the influence charge, and was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Aug. 9, following an investigation into a downed scooter rider.

Gustavo Nava, 20, of the 2600 block of Moody Avenue, Chicago, had four active warrants (two out of DuPage County and two out of Cook County), and was arrested at 12:05 a.m. Aug. 2, in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road.

INCIDENTS
THEFT
- An Indigo Lane resident reported at 11:25 a.m. Aug. 5, receiving a phone call from someone identifying themselves as a representative from Xfinity, telling them they are having a sale for cable service, they would just need to purchase Jewel gift cards to pay the fee. The resident bought $1,080 in gift cards and read the numbers over the phone to the caller. They later discovered this was a scam.
- A Lombard resident contacted police at 5:11 p.m. Aug. 5, regarding their credit card being used without their permission at a business in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They lost their credit card at an appointment in Wheaton a few days ago, but got an alert that it had just been used. Officers responded and spoke with a subject who admitted to using the credit card because the business did not take Apple Pay. The person told officers they found the card a few days prior and forgot it was in their pocket but used it because they would not accept payment. The card owner canceled it and did not want to sign complaints.
- An Arbor Lane resident called police at 4:28 p.m. Aug. 6, to report purchasing Lollapalooza wristbands for $640 from a fellow gym member. When they got to the event, the scan code on the bands did not work, and they had to purchase additional tickets.
FORGERY
Employees of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive called police at 11:53 a.m. Aug. 6, to report a man in his 20s with a medium build had purchased Ray Ban sunglasses and paid with two $100 bills. It was later discovered the bills were $10 bills that were reprinted to look like $100. The bank has possession of the bills.
ASSAULT
Employees of a business in the 3200 block of Glenview Road reported at 2:52 p.m. Aug. 6, a recently terminated employee was at the business causing a disturbance. The employee was told to leave the property and began threatening another employee, saying they would hit them. The terminated employee was given a trespass warning not to return and left the property.
STALKING
A resident of the 600 block of Waukegan Road reported on Aug. 6 that on four separate occasions, a male had walked up to the car window, banged on it, and told the driver to get out. At 1 a.m. Aug. 1, the male came to the window and the driver locked the doors and waited for him to leave. After several minutes, they thought the male was gone, so they rushed into the building, but then saw he was following them.
IDENTITY THEFT
- A Pick Drive resident reported at 1:44 p.m. Aug. 6, coming home to find a family member who suffers from memory issues, talking on the phone with someone they thought was from the FBI. The family member said they got a pop-up on their computer telling them to call a phone number and the person on the phone tried to gain access to their bank accounts. The resident spoke to the caller who tried to gain additional information, but they ended the phone call and said they would take care of any issues. No financial loss at this time.
- A resident reported at 2:11 p.m. Aug. 7, they had been at a bank in the 800 block of Waukegan Road, attempting to withdraw $9,000, which employees stopped them from doing. The resident said they received a pop-up on their computer saying it had been hacked, and they called the number. The person on the phone gained access to their computer and then they were locked out of it. They instructed them to go to the bank to withdraw money. The bank changed their account. No financial loss at this time, but they gave the person personal identifying information.
TRESPASS WARNING
- Employees of a business in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 10:25 a.m. Aug. 7, finding human feces and urine found outside their back door. They believed it to be a homeless person that has caused recent issues in the area. Officers located the person in the area and they were given a trespass warning not to return to the business.
- Employees of a business in the 1800 block of Prairie Street called police at 10:47 p.m. Aug. 8, to report a customer had been causing problems, refusing to provide payment for drinks. After they were denied the drink, the customer yelled and swore at the employee. The customer was asked to leave and complained. Officers were unable to locate the customer to give the warning.
ORDINANCE VIOLATION
Police responded to the 0-10 block of Washington at 6:46 a.m. Aug. 10, for a reported fire. Officers and firefighters found someone in their backyard acting erratically, including burning trash in a bin. They were advised of the ordinance against burning trash.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A Deerfield resident reported at 5:16 p.m. Aug. 19, two men in their 30s were flying a drone over a group of children playing in the 1800 block of Chestnut Ave. The drone hovered over the kids and the witness believes the men were taking photos of them. The men were gone upon police arrival.
