Resident Throws Broom At Speeding Car: Glenview Police Blotter
The driver of the car said the incident caused damage to their license plate.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Jeffrey Levin, 66, of the 2000 block of Spaulding Avenue, Chicago, is accused of attempted residential burglary, criminal damage to property, and was arrested at 5:47 p.m. Aug. 22, in Evanston. Following an investigation into an incident on Aug. 18 in the 1300 block of Sleepy Hollow Road, Glenview, Levin was taken into custody by the NORTAF Burglary Task Force. He was processed at the Glencoe Police Department and remained in their custody at the time of this report pending a conditions hearing on Aug. 24.

- Oscar Munguia Marquez, 26, of the 10300 block of Dearlove Road, Glenview, is accused of driving on a suspended license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, having an expired registration, and was arrested at 2:59 p.m. Aug. 23, in the 3300 block of Glenview Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Sept. 12.
- Cristian Velazquez, 30, of the 4100 block of Central Road, Glenview, is accused of driving on a suspended license, suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Aug. 21, following a traffic stop. He was released and assigned a court date of Sept. 8.

INCIDENTS
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Employees of a business in the 1900 block of Glenview Road reported at 12:21 a.m. Aug. 19, a patron was cutting raw chicken that had begun to rot on a table, causing a disturbance. They said they were prepping the chicken before they were going to a grocery store that allows them to use a microwave. They were asked to leave by employees and left without incident.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
- A resident of the 3000 block of Lexington Lane called police at 7 p.m. Aug. 19, to report two people were taking photos of the west side of the residence. They were outside for approximately 15 minutes before leaving on foot.
- A resident of the 2000 block of Balmoral Avenue called police at 9:46 p.m. Aug. 20, to report receiving an unknown, unwanted envelope containing a cardboard tube with “open” written on it. The resident has reported numerous prior suspicious deliveries to their address since March. The resident was advised to report the incident to the postal service.
TRESPASS WARNING
Employees for a business in the 1900 block of Glenview Road reported on Aug. 21 that a patron had been washing themselves in the restroom on Aug. 12. When spoken to by an employee, the person yelled at them. The business gave the person a letter and they yelled at staff, feeling it was unwarranted.
THREAT
An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 4:33 p.m. Aug. 22, that they had got into a verbal altercation with a delivery driver, who then threatened them. They said the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. when the delivery driver parked the truck in front of the main entrance. They advised the driver he could not park there, and the driver began arguing with him. The driver said they would return when the employee got off work with a couple of their "buddies." The employee was not alarmed by this but requested an extra watch.
THEFT
- Police responded to a business in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 3:16 a.m. Aug. 23, for a theft report. They spoke with an Elgin resident who said they met an Evanston resident online. They agreed to go to the business and when they took a shower, they came out and found their wallet, identification, and $536 missing. The estimated loss is $1,336.00 and complaints to be signed.
- A Highwood resident reported at 2:51 p.m. Aug. 23, that their necklace was stolen while they were at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road. They explained they had tucked their necklace inside their clothing, then placed it next to them. The estimated loss is $2000, and the Highwood resident did not want to sign complaints, but wanted the necklace returned.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A resident in the 2700 block of Karen Lane called police at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 23, to report that while driving in the 1900 block of Dewes Street, someone had thrown a broom at their vehicle, causing minor damage to the front license plate. They stopped and spoke to the person, who said they threw the broom because they were speeding. They did not want to sign complaints but wanted the person talked to for their actions. Officers spoke to the person, who said they merely slid the broom into the street when they saw the car speeding down the road.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
The owner of a business in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 9:47 p.m. Aug. 23, that one of their employees had been robbed while making a delivery. Officers arrived on scene and learned the robbery occurred in Des Plaines and contacted the Des Plaines Police Department. During the investigation, it was learned the robbery suspect was upset they did not get an item with their order. They proceeded to call the business and make statements which alarmed and disturbed two other employees of the business. Both employees wished for the person to be cited for disorderly conduct. Glenview officers responded to Des Plaines PD where the suspect was in custody pending an investigation into the robbery and was issued two Village Ordinance citations for disorderly conduct.
