Scammer Warns Resident Of Child Porn Investigation: Glenview Police Blotter
The scammer, using a pop-up on the victim's computer, told them to withdraw $10,000 and deposit it in a Bitcoin machine.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Michael Sullivan, 49, of the 1600 block of Harbor Avenue, Calumet City, had two active warrants out of McLean and Grundy counties, and was arrested at 10:07 p.m. Sept. 5, in the 1000 block of East Lake Avenue. He was taken to court for a condition hearing on Sept. 6.
VIOLATION OF AN ORDER OF PROTECTION

Robert T. Reimann, 29, of the 700 block of 7th Street, Northfield, is accused of violating an order of protection, and was arrested at 2:42 a.m. Sept. 4. He was being held in custody pending being take n to a conditions hearing that day.

INCIDENTS
THEFT
- An Evanston resident reported on Sept. 2, leaving their computer bag outside their vehicle in the 1800 block of Tower Drive while they ran inside the prior week. They later realized someone had removed their Apple Macbook from the bag. Total loss is $1,300.
- A Robincrest Lane resident reported receiving a phone call at 9:48 a.m. Sept. 2, from a male identifying himself as a Chase Bank employee, who advised there was a problem with their bank account. They were transferred to multiple different people and were given instructions on completing three transactions via Zelle and Apple Cash totaling $4,378.65. The callers then told them to go to Chase Bank to close their account and transfer the funds to an account they set up for them, but not to tell any employees. They then realized it was a scam.
- A resident called police at 9:29 p.m. Sept. 2, to report seeing two males tampering with a USPS collection box on the northwest corner of Glenview and Indian roads. The males saw the complainant watching them, and they left, entering a newer model Kia sedan. Information was forwarded to the postal inspector.
- A resident of the 1800 block of Balmoral Avenue reported at 9:21 p.m. Sept. 4, that their wallet had been stolen while shopping at a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard. Their credit cards were used for several purchases at different businesses in Glenview for a total of $1,432.91. The resident canceled their credit cards.
- A Concord Lane resident reported at 8:59 a.m. Sept. 8, that their computer had frozen, and a pop-up instructed them to call Microsoft support, where they told them they were being investigated for child pornography. The person who answered told them to withdraw $10,000 and deposit it in a Bitcoin machine. They withdrew the money, but realized it was a scam before they deposited the money.
IDENTITY THEFT
A FedEx driver reported at 12:12 a.m. Sept. 3, that they were making a delivery in the 2100 block of Winchester when they were approached by a male. The male presented an ID purporting to be the resident of that address. The package, believed to be a phone, was given to the male, who then walked away and hid in a bush. He was not located. The resident reported not making any purchases or expecting a delivery.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A resident reported at 4:38 p.m. Sept. 3, that they had been appointed by a family court to represent a child support case. They subpoenaed someone who may have information regarding the father’s assets. After receiving the subpoena, and being ordered to appear, the person sent the resident a threatening email referencing their service as a sniper, their temper, and included a photo of them in camouflage carrying a rifle.
DISPUTE
- The manager of a business in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 6:27 p.m. Sept. 3, that a recently laid off employee was being loud and making a scene in the business. The employee reported not receiving full payment on their final check. Prior to officers' arrival, money was exchanged. Police said peace was restored and the employee left.
- Employees of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 3:41 p.m. Sept. 8, someone residing at the address refused inspectional services to enter the unit for inspection.
FRAUD
A Woodlawn Road resident reported at 2:39 p.m. Sept. 4, purchasing a dog from a breeder they found online. They had sent $1,200 via Zelle for the down payment, but the breeder has since stopped communicating with them. Officers were unable to make contact with the breeder.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Police responded to the 900 block of Shermer Road at 8:04 p.m. Sept. 5, for a report of several people burning something in the skate park. The group left the area when the anonymous complainant approached them. Officers located burnt residue on the cement.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
A resident reported t 6:41 p.m. Sept. 6, that someone had removed two credit cards and $500 in cash from a locker at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road. The resident was notified by the bank that the person had used their credit cards at multiple locations.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
Police found new graffiti at 12:38 p.m. Sept. 7, under the Willow Road bridge in the 2700 block of Cardinal Road. Police said the resolution center was notified.
RETAIL THEFT
The loss prevention agents for a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported at 2:28 p.m. Sept. 8, a male, who was driving a U-Haul van, stole several bottles of liquor totaling $632.87. The same suspect has committed multiple thefts in other jurisdictions.
