Smash-And-Grab Burglary Reported At Smoke Shop In Northfield Township: Sheriff

Four people involved took the cash drawer from a register and the key to the store's van, among other items, according to police.

UNINCORPORATED NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP, IL — Four people, who were involved in a smash-and-grab burglary early Sunday at a smoke shop, took the cash drawer from a register and the key to the store's van, among other items.

According to the Cook County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to the shop in the 900 block of Greenwood Road at around 2:30 a.m. for a security alarm activation. The arriving officers found the glass window broken and items from the store missing.

Police said security camera footage captured four people, dressed in dark clothing with their faces and hands covered, smash a window with a brick to enter the store. One of the four drove off in the van, and the others left in a gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The van was later found abandoned nearby.
