'Speeding Catches Up' With Drivers In Glenview As Police Tout Enforcement Numbers

The traffic safety campaign focused on catching speeders and ran from July 8 through Aug. 1.

GLENVIEW, IL — If you were speeding through Glenview recently, there's a good chance police were handing you a ticket. As part of the "Speeding Catches Up With You" traffic safety campaign, the Glenview Police Department said it made 171 total traffic stops from July 8 through Aug. 1.

Here's a breakdown of tickets issued during the statewide effort:

  • 128 speeding citations
  • 14 other citations
  • 9 speeding 26 mph over the speed limit arrests
  • 2 driving under the influence arrests
  • 3 no valid driver's license arrests
  • 1 leaving the scene of an accident arrest

The campaign involved multiple law enforcement agencies, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police.

"We continue to urge all drivers traveling through our community to slow down, obey speed limits and drive responsibly," Glenview Sergeant James Cromley said. "Every decision you make behind the wheel matters — it's truly not a game."

The campaign aligns with IDOT's broader "It's Not a Game" initiative, which emphasizes that dangerous driving behaviors have serious consequences. The speed enforcement effort was funded by federal highway safety dollars administered by IDOT.
