Take Survey On Jackman Park Bear: Village Of Glenview

GLENVIEW, IL — Last week, the Jackman Park Bear celebrated 107 years of watching over Glenview. On Sept. 15, 1917, the made his official debut 100 years ago on Sept. 15, 1917, with nearly the entire village population (around 700, according to the Village of Glenview) turning up for the dedication of the Bear fountain at the southeast corner of Glenview Road and Pine Street.

The Bear was eventually moved twice before eventually occupying its current perch in a plaza adjacent to Jackman Park since 1999.

Recently, the Village conducted several community surveys and focus groups to help tell Glenview's story.

"Your insights about Glenview's welcoming character and generational loyalty are shaping our brand development," the Village said on its website.

With that momentum, Village officials are asking residents to take a "Bear Survey" to help expand on his established history. Officials added that local businesses have already started calling him "Jack the Bear."
