Every summer, my lovely daughter and I travel from Chicago’s North Shore to a fun or exciting destination.
Over the years, we’ve flown to Atlantis, gone on a Caribbean Disney Cruise, snorkeled in the Florida Keys, four-wheeled 14,000 feet up in high altitudes, hiked and crossed creeks in hail storms, hiked 5 passes through desert mountains in 93 degree heat and so much more.

This summer, we decided to explore my daughter’s favorite state, Colorado. Over the years, we’d spent quality time in (best kept secret), Ouray, a tiny city with approximately 250 full-time residents with a propensity for attracting four-wheeler’s, whitewater rafter’s and cowboys.
Having enjoyed all the rafting and four-wheeling during past seasons, with my daughter entering her Junior year in high school, we opted for Boulder, rumored to have one of the most beautiful campuses, while nestled in a thriving, self-contained, progressive city.

Needless to say, choosing the right location loomed large and location and comfort would prove paramount to a satisfying, easy stay and with Boulder being such a popular summer destination, parking ourselves in a hotel congruent with our needs and desires would transcend location.
For this trip, we elected to combine our stay between a hotel and a house located close to the action near the Pearl
Street Mall, (not your stereotypical mall) but an amazing downtown/outdoor business district, streamlined with numerous restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and so much more-the perfect representation of downtown Boulder and the epicenter of Boulder’s commerce and more.
With so many choices available to us, we ultimately decided that the best stay in Boulder would be the cleverly named Hotel Boulderado, an unforgettable moniker that combines the state of Colorado with it’s healthy, amazing city, Boulder.
When Hotel Boulderado opened on New Year’s Day in 1909 to much fan fare, the luxury hotel rooms cost anywhere from $1.00 per day to $2.50 per day, including meals, no less!
While the prices have certainly risen over the years (coy smile), the classic charm, beauty and service have remained unchanged.
Led by their outstanding Director of Sales & Marketing, Clark Davis, Hotel Boulderado could not be in better hands.
With over 30 years of experience in sales, catering, and food & beverage operations, Davis is uniquely qualified to assist both customers and corporate clients in achieving their meeting objectives. With the Hotel Boulderado long recognized as one of the grand dames of lodging history, perhaps their best hire of the 21st Century is Mr. Davis. Serving the Boulder community
since 1909, it is a landmark in Boulder, CO and has a rich story to share with every guest. Offering 160 guest rooms and 10,000 sq.ft. of event space, it’s critical that the hotel’s leadership is top-shelf, and with the hiring of Davis, Hotel Boulderado has succeeded in adding an invaluable asset to their thought leadership, as well as a class act, who genuinely cares about each and every guest.
Most recently serving as director of sales for the Embassy Suites Loveland Hotel, Spa & Conference Center, was recognized as the #2 Embassy Suites in the World and received a Connie Award based upon guest satisfaction results in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, the hotel was recognized as the #1 Embassy Suites of the World.
Having earned the Certified Meeting Professional designation in 1995 and a member of Meeting Professionals International since 1989, Davis has served in leadership capacities for 6 separate chapters, including President of the Orange County chapter and Vice President of Communications for the Rocky Mountain chapter. Currently, he serves as the President of the Colorado Chapter for the Green Meeting Industry Council.
e, the Hotel Boulderado is ideally suited for intimate corporate leadership conferences, incentive programs, association committee or board meetings, and social celebrations.
When a hotel cares enough to bring in a class act like Davis, you can bet that your stay will be memorable. Clark Davis went out of his way to ensure that our room was comfortable and clean and that we familiarized ourselves with the rich history of Hotel Boulderado so we could drink in all the beauty it contained.
Upon arriving at Hotel Boulderado, guests are treated like royalty by their friendly, attentive valet staff who exuded old-school manners, opening car doors, assisting with luggage without being prompted, and holding hotel doors open for my young daughter and I.
When guests enter the hotel, they’re sure to encounter the friendliest front desk staff ever. Front desk employee’s went out of their way to assist guests with helpful information, bending over backwards with helpful hints and always going the extra mile to service their valued guests.
The hotel lobby exuded the wonderful history of a classic, proud hotel, creating a comfortable ambience without being ostentatious-the perfect blend of luxury minus the cold, calculated feel that some hotels exude.
Hotel Boulderado provides comfort at every turn, from the overstuffed chairs to their easy, sofas and love seats in their open lobby.
With a good-natured nod to a timeless past, Hotel Boulderado provides an elevator operator who entertains guests with great lore about the hotels history, replete with cool anecdotes-translation: It’s even fun to ride the old-fashioned elevator with the kids while receiving some fun info about this famous locale.
While the Hotel Boulderado has great bones and classic furnishings and (if only the walls could talk), timeless stories, the
amenities and conveniences are seemingly endless. Upon entering one of the historical guest rooms, it’s difficult not to
marvel at the well-preserved, immaculate condition of the furnishings, e.g. incredibly comfortable sofa’s, conveniently located side tables, well-placed flat-screens (Hey! Some creature comforts are mandatory, especially in the modern ageJ) and the imminent feeling that you’re about to enjoy the best hotel stay of your life.
The rooms are classy, elegant and beautifully designed, again, minus the pretention that some hotels give off. The spacious, open floor-plan since their redesign provides all the comfort a family or individual could ever desire, while the historical suites maintain the integrity of their rich history.
The bathrooms are luxurious, with a full master-suite level bath containing high-end soaps, shampoo’s, conditioners and a variety of eco-friendly, lighting that includes heat lamps designated to warm their guests after stepping out of the tub or shower. In addition, right next to the bathroom is a bonus sink with a generously sized fridge for preserving food or leftovers from the wonderful restaurant(s)/bar in the main lobby area.
Davis and company go out of their way to ensure comfort to their guests, by sparing no expense which includes top-flight mattresses, an array of pillows and high-end, fluffy comforter’s and cottony sheets and cases. Management decided that guests should experience a restful sleep that rivals their bedrooms at home and needless to say, Hotel Boulderado have outdone themselves by achieving this goal on behalf of their valued customers-a first for this traveler!
Guests who contact the front desk, housekeeping or room service are treated to instantaneous service that’s unrivaled in the industry. I would challenge any company in the hospitality industry to even attempt to outperform Hotel Boulderado’s attention to servicing their guests. Service is prompt, efficient and each and every staff member has a smile on their face. Employee’s are clearly happy to be there and it shows at every turn.
With an open, wonderfully easy to navigate floor-plan, the hotel is a study in convenience. Making it even easier to navigate is their famed Skywalk which makes movement to and from the lobby from anywhere in the hotel painless and convenient. With multiple levels containing excellent space for business conferences, executive meetings, parties, happy hours and perfect gathering areas for business or important celebrations, like major holidays, weddings and more. Hotel Boulderado has thought of everything and than some.
When staying at Hotel Boulderado, guests are also treated to the following amenities:
Complimentary wireless IT services.
24 Hour business center.
Complimentary passes to downtown Boulder’s most prestigious fitness club (a big one in my book)!
Q’s Restaurant, voted “Tops” in Zagat, serving daily gourmet breakfast, lunch dinner and room services.
My favorite: The Corner Bar, featuring Boulder’s favorite martini specials and Al Fresco dining.
The legendary Catacombs Bar, offering live entertainment and more.
The Boulderado Emporium, Boulder’s most unique gift shop, located adjacent to the lobby.
Clark Davis and his associates have brought in one of the regions top Chef’s to ensure that each guest’s dining experience is second to none. My daughter and I feasted on healthy, super-tasty fare: from their marinated ginger infused shrimp scampi, their roasted veggies, flavorful chicken and more-A wonderfully satisfying meal, great presentation and better yet, scrumptious cuisine, proving that Hotel Boulderado is an authentic one-stop for any vacationer or business traveler’s needs.
Hotel Boulderado is an unrivaled stay: Unbelievable location: Convenient to Pearl Street Mall and positioned right in the heart of downtown Boulder and an easy walk to anywhere, The best service, ultra-friendly staff who enjoy working there, an A-plus Chef, a historical ambience containing plush, beautifully appointed rooms containing all the creature comforts and a great leader in Director of Sales & Marketing, Clark Davis, who will go out of his way to ensure that guests and corporate stay’s, exceed expectations in droves.
