ARRESTS

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Arkady Garnopolsky, 73, of the 1000 block of Castilian Court, Glenview, is accused of aggravated assault to a peace officer, and was arrested at 9:43 p.m. Aug. 31, at his home. He was being held in custody pending a conditions hearing on Tuesday.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Musaid Nasser, 54, of the 4600 block of West Lake Avenue, Glenview, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Aug. 28, in the 4600 block of West Lake Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Sept. 26.

AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Stephanie Lofy, 38, of the 2400 block of Landmeier Road, Elk Grove Village, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, DUI drugs or combination of drugs, driving while license revoked, illegal transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 8:59 p.m. Aug. 27, in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard. The arrest came as a result of a driving complaint in the 4000 block of East Lake Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 29.

WARRANT

Tedoro Salinas Sanchez, 44, of the 1200 block of 12th Street, Glenview, had a warrant, and was arrested at 7:52 p.m. Aug. 28, following a check on a well-being investigation in the 1800 block of Camden. He was charged with six no-bond warrants.

LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT

Edgar Guadarrama-Morales, 45, of the 1300 block of E. Ports O Call Drive, Palatine, is accused of leaving the scene of an accident, and was arrested at 2:33 p.m. Aug. 25, at the Glenview police station. The arrest followed a hit-and-run crash investigation that occurred on Aug. 22 in the 4400 block of West Lake Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Oct. 9.

INCIDENTS

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

A resident in the 3100 block of Coral Lane reported at 8:46 a.m. Aug. 26, someone had intercepted a check they wrote and mailed to their cleaning company. The check was washed and cashed, with it changed to be issued to another person for $1,991. The bank reimbursed the funds.

TRESPASS WARNING

  • A Chicago resident reported at 6:51 p.m. Aug. 26, agreeing to lease a vehicle from a Glenview resident to use for being an Uber driver. They paid a $700 deposit, but did not sign a contract. They returned the vehicle after one day because they would no longer be using it for Uber. The owner refused to refund the deposit and the parties argued. The owner wanted the lessee to be given a trespass warning not to return to the property.
  • Employees of a business in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 7:19 p.m. Aug. 27, regarding a Chicago resident being inside the business and causing a disturbance, yelling and demanding money. The person was located across the street and was given a trespass warning not to return.

BATTERY

  • The owner of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 4:24 p.m. Aug. 27, a black man in his mid 50s, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-8, thin, with glasses, with scruff, had shown a receipt for dry cleaning, saying something was spilled on him during a previous visit, and he wanted to be reimbursed. The owner said they would not immediately reimburse him without more information, and the man caused a disturbance. The owner brought him outside to talk to him and during the encounter, the man sprayed a substance in the owner's eyes and then ran to the parking lot, entered a vehicle and left the scene.
  • A person attending a business meeting at 6:41 p.m. Aug. 28, in the 1500 block of East Lake Avenue reported a dispute occurring, and they had been pushed by their co-worker. There were multiple witnesses with different accounts of the events.
  • A Chicago resident reported at 2:47 p.m. Aug. 31, driving on Dewes Street at Harlem Avenue, stopping partially in the crosswalk. A bicyclist was upset that the car was in the crosswalk and they exchanged words. The bicyclist then reached into the open driver's window and struck the driver. No complaints to be signed and the bicyclist said they understood not to touch anyone.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A resident in the 4100 block of Cove Lane reported on Aug. 28 that they had backed their car into their parking spot the previous night at around 11 p.m. When they returned at 3 p.m., four to five eggs had been thrown at the rear of the vehicle.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

Graffiti was found at 7 p.m. Aug. 28, on a bridge under Cardinal Boulevard and Willow Road. There were different colors and unknown words.

THEFT

  • A Crestwood Drive resident reported at 8:53 a.m. Aug. 29, receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Korean Embassy who told them they were a suspect in a drug investigation. They were persuaded to wire $15,000 (plus a $50 transfer fee) to avoid problems. The recipient's bank was later determined to be in Indonesia. Total loss $15,050.
  • Employees of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 10:47 a.m. Aug. 31, a male had taken a package of beef jerky and left the store without paying for the item the previous day. He was described as white, with dark-colored facial hair, wearing sunglasses and a black hoodie. Total loss is $7.99.

RETAIL THEFT

Employees of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported that at around 3:14 p.m. Aug. 30, a Morton Grove resident was seen on video concealing a Tumi iPhone case valued at $170 in their pant pocket and exiting the store without paying for the item. Officers spoke to the customer who claimed due to a medical condition, they did not realize they took the case and ended up throwing it away at a different store. Officers followed the customer to the store, where the case was recovered from a garbage can. The customer was given a trespass warning and the item was returned to the business. No monetary loss.

AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT

A Depot Street resident reported at 2:05 p.m. Aug. 31, providing their credit card information to a motel in South Dakota. The clerk had asked extra personal information, which later prompted the resident to cancel their credit card. They located an unauthorized charge on the card and will discuss with the credit card company.
