Village Of Glenview Hosting Recycling Event At Glenbrook South

Residents from Glenview and other SWANCC communities are eligible to participate.

GLENVIEW, IL — The Village of Glenview is set to host an Electronics and Document Destruction Recycling Event next month. The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon July 12, will be held at Glenbrook South High School (west parking lot).

Residents from Glenview and other SWANCC communities are eligible to participate. Materials will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools, or institutions, and IDs will be checked for verification of residency - https://www.swancc.org/about_us/members_page.php.

  • Residents must remain in their vehicle.
  • Residents are asked to unlock/open the trunk to allow staff to unload the items.
  • Electronic items and paper documents should be contained in separate areas in the back of the vehicle. Boxes and paper bags will be returned to the resident.

About Paper:

Officials said residents will be limited to six file-sized boxes or paper bags of documents containing personal information, such as medical history forms, bank statements, personal files and retired tax forms. Paper documents will be shredded on site. Bales of shredded paper will be sold to mills to make new paper products.

How to Prepare Paper:

  1. Paper must be clean, dry, and loose
  2. Remove plastic sleeves/spines/covers
  3. Remove metal clips (staples are ok).
  4. Place paper in a small box or paper shopping bags
  5. Don't bring paper in plastic bags.
  6. Don't include photos, slides, negatives, books, store receipts, magazines, greeting cards or newspapers or any non-paper item.

About Electronics:

Residents are limited to seven electronic items and all electronics must be removed from plastic packaging and boxes prior to bringing to a SWANCC event.

Acceptable Materials:

Cable Receivers, Cell Phones, Computer Cables, Computer Monitors, Computers (Desktop, Notebook, Tablet), Converter Boxes, Desktop Fax Machines and Printers, Keyboards, Mice, MP3 Players, Portable Digital Assistants (PDAs), Satellite Receivers, Scanners, Televisions, Video Game Consoles, Video Recorders/Players, and Zip Drives.

NO batteries, NO cables, NO home appliances, NO lamps, NO microwaves, NO speakers, NO VHS tapes/CDS/DVDS
