2 Cats, Dog Rescued From Heavy Antioch Garage Fire

The Antioch Fire Department said they're thankful for working smoke detectors in the home, as everyone was able to get out.

ANTIOCH, IL — Two cats and a dog were rescued from a fire at an Antioch home Monday in the 42000 block of Tiffany Road, according to the Antioch Fire Department. The department said crews were called just before noon to a reported fire at the address, and arrived to find heavy fire coming from the units attached to a 3-car garage. Crews searched and were able to rescue the family's pets, and one person made it out safely, according to the department.

Firefighters aggressively attacked the flames and quickly got the fire under control, keeping damage from the fire confined to the garage. The fire department said they're thankful for the working smoke detectors in the home, and that there were no reported injuries.

Smoke and heat damage made the home uninhabitable, and the fire remains under investigation, the department said. Crews remained on site for three hours, and the department thank other local departments who assisted during the fire.
