Up To 7 Inches Of Snow Possible In Lake, McHenry Counties
A winter weather advisory will take effect at 3 p.m. and continue until 7 a.m. Friday for Lake and McHenry counties.
LAKE AND MCHENRY COUNTIES, IL — A winter weather advisory will take effect this afternoon in Lake and McHenry counties, with up to seven inches of snow possible during the winter storm.
The heaviest snowfall is expected in northern McHenry and Lake counties, where 4 to 7 inches of snow is possible. Between 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation is expected in communities near the Interstate 88 corridor, according to the National Weather Service.
The winter weather advisory will take effect at 3 p.m. Thursday and continue through 7 a.m. Friday. Weather officials expect travel to become particularly difficult between 6 p.m. and midnight and untreated roads will become snow-covered.
