Arrests, Citations Issued During Traffic Safety Detail In Lake County

The Lake County Sheriff's Office's Super Bowl traffic safety campaign ran Feb. 7 through Feb. 9.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The results are in from a recent traffic details in Lake County.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office's Super Bowl traffic safety campaign resulted in three arrests for motorists driving without a valid driver's license, according to a new release from the sheriff's office. The following citations were also issued:

  • 19 citations for speeding
  • 7 citations for failing to wear a seatbelt
  • 2 citations for operating an uninsured vehicle
  • 4 citations for other moving and equipment violations
  • 1 citation for using a cell phone while driving

The Super Bowl weekend “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” enforcement effort ran from Feb. 7 through the early morning hours of Feb. 10. The goal of the campaign was to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure more people buckle up and follow all traffic laws, according to a news release.

The traffic safety campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
