The Gurnee Police Department responded shortly after midnight on Thursday to the 900 block of Ralph Avenue in Gurnee for a report of two men burglarizing vehicles.
A homeowner was alerted by his Ring doorbell system regarding activity happening in the driveway, Gurnee Police Department Public Information Office Shawn Gaylor said.

He looked outside and witnessed two individuals going through the interior of an unlocked vehicle parked in his driveway, Gaylor said. The homeowner opened the front door and yelled for the two men to leave his property.
While the offenders were running away from the area, they shot two rounds toward the homeowner. Two bullet holes were located on the exterior of the residence and no one was injured during the incident.
The offenders left the area prior to police arriving. The homeowner assisted investigators by retrieving the Ring video, which captured the entire incident, Gaylor said.
Both offenders were wearing face masks and one was seen wearing a black Champion sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. They ran from the immediate area and surrounding video surveillance cameras did not indicate a vehicle was used during the crime.
Detectives connected the incident to a spree of other car burglaries that had been occurring overnight in past weeks. Surveillance video from those burglaries showed one subject wearing a black Champion sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.
Arrest warrants were issued for Ian F. Matus, 18, of Gurnee, and Maseo B. Rosser, 19, of Zion.
Matus was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and burglary. Rosser was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and burglary.
Matus was taken into custody without incident and Rosser turned himself in to police on Saturday.
